Bandmill blade guide
There has been lots of talk over the years about what works good for the guide system on a bandmill, the fact is simple is better
- A simple arm to hold the guide, must be able to slide in and out freely
- I think bearings are better than rollers with bearing inserts
- Must be adjustable in 3 dimensions
- Needs to be easy to fix and take apart
- Uses standard over the shelf parts
If you can find a guide arm system that fits these criteria you will have good guide arms

wood whacker did you make this blade guide? How?
I have build and designes sawmils and resaws for the last 18 years. I started using purple heart hard wood for the guides of the blade, but I switched to brass bushing on roller bearings, and pushed dowbn the guide ( about 1/16"). it has worker perfectly for the last 12 years, we saw everyday, we replace the bras every 3 month.

maybe a larger picture would be nice.
Also it seems like guides like this work ok for smaller cuts. but what happens when the cuts get 40 inches or wider? extra tension on the blade which just equals more heat. plus I wouldnt want to use wood soaked in any petroleum based product for guides as fire becomes a possibility.
why do some guides have one side wheel? I would expect two wheels would be needed.
Rather nice blog you've got here. Thanks for it. I like such topics and anything connected to them. I definitely want to read more soon.
