Too bad we can't cut in the bush any more

All you old loggers out there know what I am talking about, there was a time when you could drag your sawmill into the bush find a good spot and start cutting your product, those days are gone, I guess the enviromentalists have won the battle to protect the forest, I guess picking flowers and growing pot are more important than making a living for your family. when was the last time you saw a hippie with a real job working for a living? they are all waiting for guys like us to hand them their welfare check. I believe we should be allowed to go into the bush and make our product just like the old days, there would be more jobs out there, and there wouldnt be a wildfire problem every summer, hell id even hire a few hippies.

Just my opinion

I was enjoying your Blog until I came across this "opinion".

As a tie-dyed in the wool hippie treehugger who also happens to run a sawmill, I find your "opinion" to be overgeneralized and down right offensive.

Just MY opinion

As a young boy of 5yrs. of age i remenber packing my dads axe and wedges and gas in the woods and seeing him fall four trees a day! They were 8ft.+ on the stump.(AND WHAT A SIGHT THAT WAS !!!)We would do this dam near everyday!i've been in the woods all of my life and seen nearly everly way to log a strip of ground. I've seen Families lose there homes and Mills close down because of the "Pot Smoking Hippie"protesting beause the "SPOTTED OWL" couldn't live in 3rd.growth timber. And lets not forget about the "FROG"!! Or want about the spikes "The Pot Smoking Hippies"would drive into the trees and when the the mill worker trying to his job and provide a life for his family would end up losing his life because of the shrapnel that was lodge in the side of his "HEAD" They are "TERRORIST" and should be treated as such!!!The good O'days are gone and that my friends is the truth..And maybe we should of log smarter (select logging) and kept our timber in house rather than export 90% of it,and maybe "The Pot Smoking Hippies"wouldn't have a leg to stand on!!!!but But then again they are "TERRORIST"and would find any lame excuse to disrupt the way of life of humans!!!!!

I wish the environmentalists would realize that wood is one of the greatest renewable resources we have in the US. Here in NH the state is 85% forest covered and growing! Responsible logging should be allowed on public lands to be sold back into the local economy. I would gladly bid on sawlogs coming out of the the White Mt. National Forest.
